Jaw contouring

Jaw Contouring

What is Jaw Contouring?

Treatment is a minimally invasive non surgical procedure. It involves injection of muscle relaxants into the masseter muscle.

The masseter is a muscle on the sides of the face that help you to chew. The masseters become visible when you clench the jaw.

The masseter muscle can become enlarged with overuse such as teeth clenching or grinding.

By treating the masseter muscle with high dose neurotoxin, it causes the muscle to relax. This causes muscle atrophy ( shrinking).

A consultation is required prior to treatment.

After treatment you may experience a slimmer jaw, reduced teeth grinding and reduced pain from over active jaw muscles.

Results typically appear within one week of treatment, although for jaw slimming , full results are noted about one month after treatment.

Results last for 3-6 months before a gradual return of normal muscle activity.

Treatment

Treatment is repeatable and we suggest regular treatments 3-6 months apart.

Botulinum toxin is a great solution for overactive masseter muscles that cause discomfort and an undesirable wide jawline.

Ideal for

  • Bruxism ( chronic grinding of teeth)
  • Jaw clenching / tension
  • Those wanting to slim down a square or thick jawline

Note: If the natural jawline is square due to bone structure, this treatment will not help. Botulinum toxin can only slim down an over active masseter muscle

Your Appointment

  • Appointments are usually 45 minutes
  • A medical history will be taken
  • Your expected outcomes will be discussed
  • Treatment takes 30 minutes
  • Photography for before and after purposes may be taken . These will remain confidential unless otherwise requested

Who should not have Jaw Contouring?

Although Botulinum toxin A treatments are usually well tolerated, it is not recommended for

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding clients
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Those with active inflammation or infection at injection sites.
